There are currently approx. 3,5 Millions of alpacas that 80% of the world population. If you drive into the highlands, you will see them on virtually every corner, where they are patient and usually relaxed to be photographed. Alpacas are shorn once a year and shed 3 - 6 kilos of wool.
Alpaca wool is known as the "fleece of the gods". Hardly any other wool that can be obtained from nature can be used so flexibly and is therefore of such high quality. Alpaca wool is suitable for felting, weaving and knitting. As alpaca wool is also known for not being scratchy, it can also be used to make wool blankets and items of clothing that lie directly on the skin, such as comforters, baby scarves or socks. Of course, it is also possible to produce aesthetic carpets or knitted accessories with alpaca wool and these products are now also available worldwide.
